This poker room is nearly perpetually out of chips by 9:00pm, or they are shuffling players back and forth between their two charities, causing you to have to cash out with one charity and back in, to continue playing, when they change. The last time I went in there, myself and two other people came in together, we all put our name on the waiting list, and the floor guy refused to sit any of us, even though there were seats open at the two tables that were there (and there were 8 people on the list, but he wouldn’t open a new game). As soon as we decided to go find another room to play it, I wiped my name off the top of the list, the floor guy watches me walk out, then starts calling the players that had signed up below us.
Although this room has a fair number of experienced casino dealers, it also has some really poor dealers with really terrible attitudes, as well. Frankly, it feels like you’re playing poker in a cafeteria, rather than a poker room, and the floor staff suck. I won’t be stepping foot in this place again.
Magician, thanks for your input on the room. I have never played here, but this is not the first time I have heard it’s like a cafeteria. As far as the dealers and floor, I hope others can add to this so we can see if it is a common problem or if maybe you were there on a bad night.
The poker room is in the basement of the horsetrack beacuse its non-smoking down there. The floor guys are not bad by my experience. Remember, they are running a charity room…not MGM!! They will only work as hard as you make them; so speak up and act like your paying they’re bills; and they should take care of you! The building is older, but you can still bet the pony races, and if you like a quiet and spacey room, this is it. The tables are right by the food counter so I agree, it does look a bit like a cafeteria, but what do expect, MGM GRAND CASINO. The good thing is that it’s LARGE… They got 16+ tables AND the place is STILL spacey. You go into DOCS and the poker area is SMALLER than my bedroom!!! They got 2 tables and people are constantly in your way; bumping into you; not to mention the obnoxious bar scene. docs is no good unless you go there to tip a few back.
Played in there big tourny room was ran rather nice would play there more often if I didn’t live one hour away. Cash games were filled with fish just don’t tap on the tank and you’ll leave happy
