BOOMTOWN POKER ROOM OPENED OCTOBER 9TH AND THEY ARE JUST DOWN THE STREET FROM DOLLAR KING. It's a little slow from what I hear right now but that is to be expected since they are just starting out again. Howeve, I was donw there this past Sunday and it was DEFINATELY a nice place to play. They offered all of the players FREE food and I told they are going to serve dinner to the players EVERY night of the week. The staff is professional and the room was very professional and comfortable. It looks like any card room you would see in the nicer casinos. You guys should check them out and give them a chance. I almost forgot, they have Vegas Rules BLACKJACK. www.BoomtownPoker.com or call them at 734-224-7012. Good luck Boomtown. Dollar king is nothing more than a bunch of ego maniacs that will do anything they can to sabotage Boomtown. Dollar King should be concerned. Very concerned.

Wow!!! I can not believe how many people say negative things about the dollar king! I think they are mostly people that are or was in competition with dollar king. Cause I was there the nights that all the bad things happened and they all started at the bar next door!!!! All of the haters need to grow up! These places is one of the best charity rooms I've ever been to! Also they are very much into being honest and try there best to be far! If you do something wrong there they will band you! All the bad people are not aloud in there even dollar bill!!!! They have all ways paid out every dollar they take in for tournaments besides the rake which is 20%!!!! That was dice at players who kept the add one for himself and his son! So that's the truth not in more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just went here last night for the first time. Never been to a charity poker room but it was better than I expected. Good turnout for the tourny, dealers friendly and did a good job. I felt completely comfortable and safe there. N

I play here several times a week and would not hesitate to take my daughters here, it is a fun relaxing evening. I used to play at Players down the street until it closed 6 months ago. Definately call ahead to reserve a seat for the nightly tournaments as they regularly sell out, and be on time or your seat will be sold at 7. I regularly leave with more money than I came with and have never felt unsafe. Tournaments are normally $25 - $50 and cash games are 1-2 and occasionally a 2-5 they are almost all no limit holdem generally 70 person touneys and 2-3 cash tables and they will have someone walk you to your car if requested.

It's very sad to read that all these players enjoy the Dollar King poker room with no idea of what is going on behind the scenes. I ran the poker room for about a year as well as another person who posted a comment above. "Whitey"... The owner of this establishment is a thief and on multiple occasions right in front of me would pocket 2 or 300 of the re-buy money from the tournaments. Thats a pretty good pay considering they also get half of the 20% they already take off the top. The managers there would sell theyre friends bracelets for the tournament for half the price of the buy in and pocket the money. Also give them extra tournament chips from the back and on top of that sell them cash chips for half price. There is countless things that go on with the ownhership and management that the players never see. I mean how on earth can you have a manager that gets drunk fights in the place more then once and still have a job?? If that isnt enough, the owner has the nerve to go on an interview with Toledo Free Press to say "These poker rooms benefit the community" and in the same sense he and his wife go through ridiculous measures to have other establishments shut down. Even go as far as to tell an ex employee to do something to another poker room to cost them money in hopes they will pack up and leave. So when the ex employee does it for him he not only shows no compassion to him but actually bans him from the poker room. This is a sad excuse for an establishment. I feel sorry for the players who only go "for the action". Not hard to get action when players are playing on discounted or free money! And Whitey is ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!!! This is a breeding ground for robbery, theft, fights, and thuggish behavior! SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN!!!

Keep your pistols on you. You need them between the door and the parking space. Watch for thugs colluding with their buddies at the final table. You just have to be aggressive in that situation and put a bunch of chips in the middle. LOL.

They have automatic shufflers now that ensure an honest card distribution. At least you don't have to worry about a meth addicted, card mechanic dealer getting paid by thugs in a cash game.

Aside from the potential robbery and collsion, the action is pretty good there and 95% of the players are easy to get along with and are decent people. Management is OK, but they don't have the juice to keep the thugs from tainting the game all the time. Just another microcosm of America. Have fun. Bring a crew if you can.

PS Dollar Bill is alright in my book. He just loves to talk and put chips in the middle at the right time. He'll bust you up if you make a mistake. LOL.
