Not sure. Players was great. However, I have drove to this place twice already, once on a Weds night and the other on a Sat night. Weds at tourney start time there were only 2 cars in the parking lot. Sat night it was about 5. So I didn’t go in and went back to the Dollar king.

One of the main problems with a new poker room. Everyone drives by and only sees a few cars and then they go down to the place that has the worst reviews. If everyone stopped in, instead of driving by. Boomtown would have plenty of action. That’s why boomtown offers blackjack. For those that want to hang out for a few minutes. While the others that drive by can park and get the game going.

Appreciate the response. But if your coming for a tournament that has no players what is the point? Believe me I am all about giving your room a chance. I don’t like the King, but right now that is it. If former “Players” customers are not going back, that makes me concerned. In addition, who wants to play “Charity blackjack” rules, that is why it never lasts at the rooms. I promise I will give it a try, how many players to you get on a Saturday tourney?
June 19, 2011 at 9:21 am
are blackjack rules are the same as casino, just even money. we had 29 for Saturday and growing, cash table was going as well. Everyone’s needs were taking care of, we had catering. People tell me they really like the room. We had a cash game for most of the tournament. Big Omaha hi/lo this Wed. Were expecting a really nice turnout. Starts at 5pm.

Ok,
Two of my friends went last night. I had too work. Their report definately differs from yours. First off, tourney didn’t start until about 45 mins after your scheduled time. Apperantly there was only about 9 people until this time. You had two tables and then a few people showed up around 730pm (1 hr after start time) and you could not accomadate them because you had no dealer. You pulled an old Dollar King dealer when more people showed up. And a cash game for most of the tournament? The report was that no cash play at all until well after 930pm. Even then only 4 players. I suggest being a bit more honest and prepared when responding. Finally, no dealer available for blackjack, let alone a blackjack game going.
I wish you luck with the room, but if you are having trouble supplying dealers and have to start turning players away or be put on a wait list, your room won’t be around long.

I haven’t heard anything good about this owner or how he has run previous businesses he’s been accused of cheating customers and employees

grand opening was sunday night and went off without a hitch. had 2 great tourneys and a cash game that ran all night a breath of fresh air over the mis-run dollar king

Boomtown is one of the nicest looking rooms around. Everything is custom for the room for your seating pleasure. The staff is very professional,Dealers are very fast and helpful. Wednesdays @ 5 is Omaha high/low. And it’s proven to be a secure place to play.
Check out the news video. You can see how nice the room is.

I would have to completely disagree with JB. For someone preaching to be prepared and yet making statements of an event that he didn’t even attend. It is true that 3 players showed up during the first round of the tournament and they floor manager and owner did exactly what they had to do to accomodate them. I on the other hand DID attend this tournament and was treated very well. The manager came out of pocket to order pizza’s for us all. The drinks were free and the owner and manager came around frequently to as us if we needed one. the tournament was ran well. Players was a good place to play as a former player and I think the new owner and staff have this place on its way to a bright future. And as far as the cash game… Again the unattended gentleman is wrong they started a cash game around 9 with 7 players to start. It didnt last long but this is another issue for the future. “Build it and they will come.” Hang in there Boomtown!
June 21, 2011 at 6:37 pm
Well you are right about one thing. I didn’t attend. But I did attend another night. I agree that they treat people well with free pizza and pop. I really only took issue with the fact that “I” and other players should “stop in” and wait or waste my money on even money blackjack. Which by the way is not “Casino rules” blackjack. This is a problem that other Rooms have put players through in the past. I come to play poker. I don’t come to sit around and wait for enough people to decide to “stop in”. Its just like buying something. That was my only point. And your opinion is just like mine. You have one. I trust the 4 people who are frequent players in the area. You have one chance to ring in the players, why would I drive out of my way to go to a place where I know I have to wait for “potential” action.
P.S the night I did attend tourney started 45 mins late as well.

This will be my final report. I stopped by for another try, even after hearing the negative reviews from most of the local active players. The placed was closed because apperantly didn’t get a charity. Tried a final time Saturday night 6:55pm, tourney starts @ 7pm. 3 Players waiting and a dealer. Now the place is closing down for most of the week until August. I am sorry to say that this room will be gone soon.

I look forward to playing at Boomtown. I like smaller trnys. 70ppl are just to dam many. The food situation sounds like a GREAT WAY OF FILLING THE HOUSE. I still remember the grinders u ordered the 1st time I played:-) I got to take a few home w/me there was so many left over But trnys should start ON TIME (meaning no more than-15min LATE STARTING the DAM thing, & if your not in your seat by end of the 2nd level posting a DEAD SM & BIG w/ a live BIG) or (1st hr w/ ur chips blinding off) TO DAM BAD…. I like trnys that are $20-$30 or ($40tops after 1 rebuy or addon). Some places do a extra BIG CHIP for $5 calling it a “dealer appreciation”. Looking forward to reading & updated weekly schedule on your web-site…

Stopped by on there grand reopening on sunday of the Boomtown poker room and they had a pretty good response. Decent sized tourney during the day and night, As i played in both. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. And even the management was friendly and very personable. And to my surprise they had a good blackjack game going. I was extremely impressed with the venue as it was also very clean. Felt like i was actually at a true casino. I will absolutely be visiting this poker room again, Heck they even had a .50 $1.00 game going. the wife may not like this but im soo going back….
