My Busted Bankroll

Hey everyone, it’s been quite a while since I last wrote anything in here so I thought I would do some writing to bring things up to speed. I have been taking sometime to figure out where I want to take Michigan Card Player and setting goals for the site. I have some pretty good thoughts going on so be sure to watch for more new things in the future.
Now as far a poker, I have not been playing too much live poker, just can’t seem to find the time between family, summer, and other work related stuff. But I have been playing a lot of online poker for the fact it’s always easy to find a game no matter what time it is. That is one of the things I like about online poker, unlike the charity poker rooms near me, Full Tilt never closes. I find myself playing at 6:00 am sometimes and at 2:00 am other times because that’s when I have the time to play. I have been on what I thought was a very bad run. Just felt like I was card dead and when I did get a hand no matter what I had someone else was going to have some thing better. I told myself it’s just the variance of poker and play through it. As I was dealing with this variance my online bankroll was dropping like a ton of bricks, I did not back down in stakes, no I did just the opposite and chased the big win to get things back on track. Let me tell all of you, this is not the answer, you can see my article on bankroll management and what it says is the truth. I did not practice what I preach and as you all know that spells disaster.
So now here I am with a busted online bankroll and wondering what and the hell has been going on. I took sometime to go through all my “Poker Tracker” stats and look through some hand history’s of the big hands that killed my bankroll. Guess what I found? I was running bad at first, but as I played through all that I just started playing bad. So after hours of looking through hand history’s I have came to the conclusion, that yes at first I was running bad, but in a quest to get things back on track I just played real bad poker and donked off my bankroll. Now I should be getting emails from some online players thanking me for making there car payments, but we all know those won’t come, and I am most likely on some find player requests.
So just like a business I have to develop a plan and set goals to get back on track. Here is part one of the master plan. I had someone transfer me some money on my Full Tilt account to get me started again. Now it’s not much money and that is for two reasons. One is I don’t want to take much money out of the household here and two is, with a very small bankroll you have to play solid poker and use good bankroll management, two things that are very important to be a successful poker player. So here I am with $50, yes only $50 in my Full Tilt account and my goal is to grind out a bankroll to make a trip out to the 2010 WSOP. Now I ‘m not looking to play in the main event, but there are many other events out there I would love to play in. I figure I need at least $10,000 to make the trip out there, this $10,000 does not include air fare, hotel, food, strip clubs, ect… just poker money. Now mind you I will not only play online but also play live to add to my goal but at the current time my live bankroll has been used to cover those good old household bills so that bankroll is a joke also but I have a plan for that as well.
This post is starting to drag on and I have family things to do (It is the 4th of July), so I will end it here and in one of the next few post I will talk about what the plan is to reach my goal, and will keep an update of my progress posted here on Michigan Card Player. Below is my chart to also track where I am at.
Wish me luck……
Joe…..
