A Night at the Soaring Eagle

Hey everyone hows it going?

All right here is some rambling of how my night at the Soaring Eagle Casino in Mt. Pleasant went.

The day started out just like any other Monday, did not want to get out of bed, did not feel like doing any work that day, but as we all know there are things that always must be done. So off to do the things that needed to be done, got stuff done early for the day and my buddy I was with said we need to make a run up to the casino to play some poker. I was game for that, so I called the wife real quick to make sure we did not have anything going on that night (which we did not) so off to the casino we go.

Arrived at the casino about 4:30 p.m. or so, weeded our way through all the senior citizens standing around as we were trying to get to get to the poker room. There was a pretty good list for the $1/2 tables but not too bad, so we got our names on the list and decided to just walk around while waiting for our names to be called. Well about 1 hour later I here my name and off I go back to the poker room. Got to my seat and everything was all good, I raked in a few small pots but not much, just kinda card dead at the moment. My buddy gets seated at the same table (which is all good) and then about 10 minutes later the Monday night tourney is getting ready to start so more spots open at our tight playing table.

Well a few guys sit down and you could just tell that the game was going to loosen up a lot. There was this one guy playing almost every hand and opening for $12. Playing very aggressive and loved to show his bluffs at this tight table. Well after about 1 1/2 hours of play I was still just above even, I had won a few pots lost a few nothing too big. Then I get dealt JJ in middle position raise it up to $15 with a few limper’s in front of me and you know who called and everyone else folded. Well here I am heads up with the loosest player at the table, I have good holdings what more could I ask for? The flop comes 6,9,10 (2 clubs 1 spade). He checks I bet $25 and he check raises me to $50. I tank for a quick second and feel he is just tying to push me off the hand (like I have watched him do to many) and just flat called (mistake I should of re-raised).  The turn brings us a 2 of spades, he checks I bet $70 and he flat calls. Now he has me wondering WTF why no re-raise? Well the river brings us the K of hearts, he shoves his last $69 in to the pot, well I tank again and just feel he is trying to steal this pot, what does he have, a solid hand or just a bluff? Well I call and he flips over K,7 major suck out.

I was on instant tilt but tried not say too much only “why and the f**k were you even in the hand”, I did not want to pull a Phil Hellmuth on him so I just left the table. I went outside to catch some fresh air and  kinda felt like Hellmuth when I called my wife to vent to here about it. Asked her “how could this guy play this type of shit”, I was a 84% favorite to win this hand on the turn. She says, I need to calm and stop being so pissed about it. I just tell her that I want loose players play junk like that and chasing cards they don’t catch, but I hate being felted by those players. I suggested maybe I should just reload and wait for my shot with him again. She agreed and told me to hit the ATM and do it, but I told her not tonight too much tilt and I will play too many hands with him trying to catch him (not a good plan). I know it is only a few hundred dollars but sometimes it’s not the money it’s how we loose it. So I chilled out, and waited for my buddy to get done, then let my buddy listen to me all the way home about it.

Oh well I’ll get’em next time.
